Aurora: Animal

The wait is finally over after the daily teases on her social. Aurora’s third EP Running With The Wolves has dropped, released with a theatrical almost flamboyant first single Animal that swoops, soars and rotates with pulse, heart and melody.

“ANIMAL for me is a very ironical song. It’s raw because we are raw, it’s sensual because nature is sensual. It’s wrong and strange because the world is wrong and strange. It’s free because we should be free. There is a lot of things I hate about us, (next to all the things I love) and part of me hate the industrial part of the music industry. And that is exactly why the song had to sound the way it did. Because it’s a way for me to make. A bit fun of it. Still Aurora, but with elements form that world. For me, It amplifies the irony in all of it. The world we all have mixed feelings about. Because it’s so easy to show people something horrible, something deep and we still choose what we want to see. And that is the must fun thing with it all.” she teased in the build up to the release of the first single.

Her description couldn’t be more conflicted, yet accurate. There’s a bipolarity to the lyric:
“You are the victim, victim of my love
I dangle up on rooftops, before I push you off
I stand at the headlights, looking for a corner where I can't be found
With a goddess in my right eye, watching every lover on the battleground”

With her numerous musical fans ranging from Billie Eilish to Sigrid, Katy Perry to TroyeSivan, each and every one of them express their fascination in the individualism and boldness of Aurora’s rhythm and verse.

The same inquisitiveness in her early tracks remains, though Animal is more of an infectious alt-pop jam brimming with fervent emotion and raw observation. It will inevitably be the core sample in club tracks and radio plays. There’s a new depth to Aurora’s sound in this lead-in when looking retrospectively at previous releases featuring high density dance beats and vibrant choruses. The Nordic goes a long way capturing the oblivion and the ecstasy, the lust and the camraderie of the dance floor.
