Brother Brad Unearth the Past with "Digital Revolution"

Abandoned detritus of the recent past makes up the sets in "Digital Revolution," the latest video from Sydney soul and funk combo Brother Brad.

With a breezy, reggae-inspired rhythm and a gently melodic lead vocal, the track recalls 70s soft-rock not unlike Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop." Brother Brad are thinkin' about tomorrow, but they're thinkin' about yesterday too. They present relics of the past - not just the reel-to-reel tape decks and typewriters, but their retro cool threads with fondness.

The second taste of Brother Brad's upcoming debut EP following "Get Around," the track and video further their image as somewhat whimsical hipsters with an ear for the near forgotten sounds of Philly soul and funk-influenced rock & roll.

On the surface it almost seems naïve in its carless joy, but that feeling is obliterated by the way the band play. A fiery trumpet solo near the end of "Digital Revolution" will lay any fears you have about the band's soul qualifications to rest.
