Introducing THE COLLECTIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL

Joseph Lloyd
6th Dec 2018

We’re touting it the debut festival that’s set to catapult many of Australia’s breaking bands and artists. Brought to you by creators of “A Weekend in the Gardens” and “New Find”, 1-2 Entertainment unearth a mix of fresh faces and upcoming acts in this new boutique platform that has a focus on uniqueness. The stage will be oozing with some of the industry’s most promising at the Landsdowne Hotel this weekend!

THE LINEUP:

“The Lansdowne is actually one of our favourite venues in Sydney and we’ve seen a lot of our favourite bands there; we can’t wait to headline in December with such a great line-up by our side!” say Lily & Grace Richardsson from the CLEWS who have clocked notable supporting slots with Portugal. The Man, Albert Hammond Jr and Holy Holy in the bag. These two siblings have been creating art together as far as they can remember and its their singing bi choruses and heart exploding lyrics that got the attention of Triple J.

There’s a reminiscent sound to old school Smashing Pumpkins (check out TOTTY’S Chris Peruch, Max Pirrodi and Kelly Jansch’s single ‘Riff’ if you don't believe us) that will be showcased. They spent the first three years together writing and recording in a Wollongong shed. If their recent gigs in Melbourne and Wollongong are anything to go by, these guys would be the poster shot for The Collective’s vision to unearth.

“As a band, we all agree how important it is to showcase and celebrate the huge amount of female/trans/non-binary talent in the music industry.” say THE BUOYS who have already shared stages with the likes of The Delta Riggs, Julia Why?, Peter Bibby and Big White. Ready to flip the script with their fuzzed out guitars and sharp whitted songwriting and effortless flair. An endearing collaborative forged in the flames of a failed Tinder date, when singer Zoe was introduced to drummer Tess, the cousin of said date prior to the addition of shredder guitarist, Anthea and bassist, Ros.

CRY CLUB brings together post-punk with pop licks that make their music stand out even further, Cry Club’s powerful and intensely personal songwriting is channelled with a ferocity and brash honesty that has made them a group to watch. Heather Riley on vocals and Jonathon Tooke on guitar tackle everything from pervasive homophobia to flaky mates while maintaining a distinct kindness to all those around them.

SPIT CHEWY take their cues from Blondie, Sonic Youth and No Doubt. “Equal opportunity is so important to us and it’s amazing to be involved in an event like this” as one of the core principles of The Collective is in helping unlock the nation’s hidden talents

A stellar lineup bringing to the forefront creative minds in the city’s diverse fabric is what drives The Collective. The stellar line up will be unleashed this Saturday 8th December at The Landsdowne Hotel.
