The Irish Film Festival returns to Sydney next week a candid glimpse into Irish culture for Australian audiences young and old.

This year’s festival begins in Sydney with a community screening of Unquiet Graves in Penrith on Wednesday 1 May, followed by the official opening Night Gala which will take place at the Chauvel in Paddington on Thursday 2 May, along with the now legendary Opening Night Party afterwards. The festival runs at the Chauvel until Sunday 5 May.

The festival officially launches with Float like a Butterfly and uplifting drama from the producers of Sing Street and the Oscar winning film Once. Set in 1972 when Muhammad Ali was set to fight in Dublin, the film follows Frances, a young Irish traveller girl, with big dreams of becoming a champion boxer. The award winning opening night film has already gained international acclaim at the Cork Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival.
