Make a night of it under the stars at American Express Openair Cinemas, now showing in Sydney's Inner West at the convenient location of the University of Sydney's Cadigal Green.

American Express Openair Cinemas brings a season of good times to 10 cities across Australia and New Zealand. Experience summer at its best with live music, sunset drinks, food, fun and flicks.

Just minutes from Redfern station, Newtown and the rest of the university campus, the Inner West edition brings 32 screenings to the outdoors this summer, featuring many new blockbuster hits.

Running from January 10 - February 17 2019, the Cadigal Green cinema promises festival vibes in full swing every night of the screenings with an array of alternative entertainment, live music and DJ performances before the latest and greatest feature films light up the big screen.

The program boasts an exciting mix of box office hits and anticipated new releases including A Star is Born, Aquaman, Glass and Vice. There's a good selection of family-friendly titles including: Mary Poppins Returns and Ralph Breaks the Internet or you can discover something different with program highlights including:

• Green Book– Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali star in this heart-warming taleinspired by a true friendship.
• The Front Runner – Hugh Jackman portrays disgraced presidential candidate Gary Hart.
• The Hate U Give (30th Jan) – Advanced Screening - Facing pressures from opposing sides of the community, Starr Carter must find her voice and stand up for what's right

There's food provided by Salt Meats Cheese, who are returning again to the event with a daily menu of dishes including antipasti (meat and cheese platters from $14), pastas ($15) and wood-fired pizzas (from $14), alongside truffle fries ($10), arancini ($8) and more. There's icecream from Haagen Dazs and popcorn, of course.

At the bar there's a decent range of alcoholic beverages available including 4Pines craft beer, PIMMS mixed drinks, Giesen Wines and Black Devil Cider, plus water and softies.

The events are also dog friendly - that's right film fanatics, no need to choose between the latest flick and your furry friend, they're welcome to come along too (just be mindful of other people as well as how your doggo might cope with films with expected gunfire and explosions).

The Inner West Openair Cinema is open Tuesday to Sunday Jan 10 - Feb 17 (Closed Australia Day).
