Perth’s own up-and-coming multi-instrumentalist and producer, Ukiyo has dropped his infectious new single Clicky shortly after announcing his debut EP ‘Fantasy’, which is set to come out at the end of this month.

At just 21 years old, Timothy Arnott has decided that 2018 is the year for him to take the fresh and completely unique sound of Ukiyo to new heights with his new single being a testament to that.

Clicky is a playful and captivatingly peculiar two-minute banger that gets your head bouncing right away to its punchy percussion and live-recorded synth. At the beginning, the title becomes onomatopoeic as we hear out-of-time clicking sounds. It makes you wonder how it’s going work. But you’re instantly taken into the world of Ukiyo as each layer harmoniously weaves together to create a perfectly balanced amalgamation of different sounds.

Ukiyo describes Fantasy as being almost soundtrack-like – music that takes you into another world:

“This EP and the Ukiyo project in general are both all about escapism. It’s why I started making music in the first place after all. I’ll never stop being amazed by the ability soundtracks have to take listeners to another world and it’s my goal to create music that does that. My EP is called Fantasy because that’s exactly what it is to me, when I close my eyes this is the music I hear.”

It’s a track for any place and anytime. Clicky is a showcase of Ukiyo’s sonic versatility in making music that can make you bop on the dance floor but also accompany your meditations. If Clicky transports us into a sort of world of fun, we can only be excited for what worlds await us when the Fantasy EP drops on July 25.

Clicky is now available across all major streaming services, otherwise you can stream on listen to it >> here.
