What's New in Indie Pop Rock

Sydney Scoop gets really excited when their indie pop rock firm favourites release a new single. In the last month or so both Philadelphia Grand Jury and The Delta Riggs have dropped new songs as just the tip of the iceberg of their new material.

Philadelphia Grand Jury recently completed the #10KTour after a few years of no new music or touring (last time was back when the album 'Summer of Doom' came out in 2015). The three piece indie pop rocksters, headed by Berkfinger doing vocals/guitar and joined by MC Bad Genius on bass/keyboard/guitar and Dan W Sweat on drums, say they had a blast performing the no doubt new hit single "$10K" to audiences. The band stopped off to do headline gigs in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before rounding the tour off with a spot at The Gumball Festival.

As always with The Phillyjays, as us fans affectionately call them, you can expect quirky catchy AF beats and lyrics from '$10K'. The band has assured us that future gigs and songs are in the pipeline. Check out all the details on Facebook (Philadelphia Grand Jury) Instagram (phillyjays) or at www.philadelphiagrandjury.com.au.

Next band to prick Sydney Scoop's interest of in terms of current tracks is Melbourne based indie pop rockers, The Delta Riggs.

In late April of 2019, the cracker tune, "Don't You Frown" dropped. This is the third teaser from the band's upcoming fourth album ("Fake That" and "Out of Place" were released in 2018).

In no time at all you will find yourself humming n dancing to the snappy notes of "Don't You Frown". The cutesy clip adds to the appeal of the single as ut showcases the band's four members joking around but most importantly highlights lead singer, Elliott Hammond's frontman star qualities.

Sydney siders should definitely hit up the 'Make Boogie Great Again' gig on 7 June at which The Delta Riggs are headlining. Marvell will be supporting and Danny J Clayton will be doing the DJ honours. The gig is part of a series of live music shows to bring back life to the Potts Point/Kings Cross precinct, and have come about from a collaboration between Boogie Mountain and Vivid Music. Further details can be found on the band's Facebook page (The Delta Riggs) or via Eventbrite.
