Café Mint

Café Mint has been a Surry Hills local for more than a decade. Think lacquered wooden tables, tagine shaped lights, a couple of tables outside and a well-dressed, moodily-lit function space upstairs to book at night.

At daytime, however, it’s all about the array of interesting breakfast and lunch options. Try the haloumi with saffron pears, pickled zucchini and mixed leaf salad, or the crowd favourite of breakfast hummus with fragrant lamb mince and za'atar toast. It wouldn’t be worth a trip without trying the baked eggs with chackchouk. They might be ubiquitous around Sydney, but owner and Chef Hugh Foster’s been serving them up for decades.

The coffee is from Gypsy Espresso, and is sweet and nutty and served with fresh Jersey Milk.

There’s a clever wine list and plenty of platter options for functions upstairs. Café Mint is all about beautifully spiced food, drinking, eating and sharing. Three times a day, if you can.
