Gnome Café

Nestled on an unassuming corner amongst the hub of popular brunch and breakfast spots that make up Crown Street in Surry Hills, sits Gnome - or to call it by its full name: Gnome Espresso and Wine Bar. The place is quite small, with about eight small tables scattered inside and out. In the mornings it’s a great place to catch up with a friend or two over a cup of espresso from the Gnome Coffee Merchants and a piece of rye sour dough toast piled high with ocean trout, avocado, dill, marinated feta and beetroot relish. Through the afternoon until 5pm Gnome stays open as a wine bar offering salads, sandwiches, nibbles and a changing menu of beer and wine. It’s a sophisticated yet casual setting, perfect for people-watching, weekend brunch or trying to nab one of the cronuts coming from its sister venue, Brewtown Newtown.
