Arguably the heart and soul of the Spot. Built in 1937, and now heritage listed, The Ritz is one of only two art deco cinemas left in Sydney. Plush carpets, long staircases, a cocktail lounge and a list of films displayed in lights. Without this charming old cinema, the Spot wouldn’t be special. If you’ve forgotten the charm of films, celluloid – the whole spectacle of cinema – the Ritz will remind you it’s alive and kicking. If you’re a student, the tickets are criminally cheap. For the rest of us, they’re still better priced than most.
