Tartine

Editor's Pick

Tartine is a fancy French open-faced sandwich AND a fresh approach to a café in Mascot. Tartine starts with its food - with all day breakfasts seven days a week, all under ten bucks. There's in house carafes of filtered and sparkling water, Grinders coffee, and Brasserie Bread. Bridgette Bardot sings (you'll know the tunes) '60s pop classics in French. But Tartine is so much more. Anthony Telford was the head chef of Public Dining Room and now opens what could be the most modern as well as old new café in the suburbs. Secluded from busy Gardeners Road by a hedge the new building that houses the Tartine café is given new life through rescued and repurposed furniture of mismatched and vintage tables and chairs, vintage ceramics and glass, fabulous vintage framing collectables and free plants from Marrickville Pay It Forward. There's plenty of parking on the café grounds, and more across the road at Bunnings.
