Turka

Editor's Pick

Alex Buharali is the real Turkish deal. He had a couple of restaurants in Turkey. And he's worked across 4 continents. Now he's hit Crows Nest with his second Turkish venue for Sydney. The corner location of Pacific Highway and Willoughby Road has probably got the most outdoor seating in the suburb. Add to that the license is for a bar (so you don't have to eat). But you'll want to, because his reputation for genuine Turkish cuisine preceeds him and Turka. Whether it's for breakfast brunch lunch or dinner there are amazing choices in big plates down to small mezze style snacks. Topped off by his ever present attentive and smiling service. And so reasonably priced.

To tempt your taste buds, start with dips such as Cacik (garlic yoghurt with cucumbers) or Pancar Ezme (creamy beetroot, a Dip Trio or a Dip Star (five). Cold Meze from Yagrak Sarma (dolma) or his famous Zaytiyagh Fasulya (green beans) through to Kargik Turgu (traditional pickled vegetables). Hot Meze yummy Icii Kofte (kibbeh) and mussels, and prawns and honey halloumi and more. Through to amazing chargrill, substantial salads, tasting menues and desserts.

Attention to detail spans breads to beverages with Turkish spirits, wines and beer.
