Vizio Caffé e Cucina

Co-owner Alessandro Fuscaldo explains: “Vizio in English literally means ‘vice’, so for us Vizio Caffé e Cucina is all about celebrating life’s ultimate indulgences of good food and drink shared with friends and family in the comfort and warmth of our home. Growing up in an Italian household, we have taken our fond memories of sharing a traditional Sunday meal at Nonna’s house and transported them into our restaurant today, bringing our guests delicious homemade food that we want everyone to enjoy.”

Every morning, locals and city workers congregate at the café’s bar to enjoy an espresso and bite to eat from the healthy Acai Bowl or Homemade Granola to the luxurious Crab Benedict or decadent Pancakes with poached pear, fresh ricotta, walnut, maple syrup and chocolate crumb.

Lunch offers a selection of lighter dishes from a traditional Bruschetta through to the more modern Earthy Green Bowl with summer vegetables, red quinoa, crushed almonds, poached egg and ginger dressing. Those looking for a heartier feed will enjoy the Gnocchi Tricolore, Linguine Pesto e Gamberi or Beef Burger with all the trimmings. There are daily and weekly market specials, and kids are also well catered for with a tasty and affordable menu of Italian and international dishes, all under $10.

In the evening, diners can take a seat up at the bar to enjoy a wide selection of Italian wines, beers and cocktails or cosy up in one of the comfortable booths to share the pleasures of life with a menu of traditional homemade Italian food, meant to be shared.

Start with a delicious selection of Italian and Australian salumi and formaggi or more substantial entrée before moving onto a main course of homemade pasta, meat or fish. Standout dishes include Cozze Alla Sorrentina, Spring Bay mussels with fresh tomato, chilli, parsley and Chardonnay; Linguine al Frutti di Mare; and Filetto di Manzo, 250g grass fed Black Angus fillet with potato gratin, broccolini and port jus.For dessert, a light seasonal Pannacotta, traditional Tiramisu or rich Tortino al Cioccolato is the perfect finish.

The drinks list is well considered with a wide selection of Italian and Australian wines by the bottle and over 25 by the glass, giving diners plenty to choose from. A solid beer list includes over 15 Italian craft beers, as well as some Aussie favourites. A small but perfectly formed cocktail list includes the Umberto I with basil infused Malfy gin, tomato water and smoked buffalo; and the Palma with Arette tequila, roasted capsicum, pineapple, Red Okar and turmeric soda.
