Brandenburg Quartet

The Brandenburg Quartet is an exciting new arrival on Australia’s music scene.

The four principal string players of the multi ARIA Award-winning Australian Brandenburg Orchestra – from Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne – will bring to the stage well-loved quartets of the classical repertoire as well as brilliant works by composers rarely heard today, all on instruments of the period.

Perth’s Shaun Lee-Chen, the Brandenburg’s concertmaster and first violin in the quartet, says: “The Brandenburg Quartet is exciting for me as I’ve always wanted to be in a String Quartet on period instruments. It’s definitely a dream come true.

“We are bringing the unique sound world of the Brandenburg into a more intimate setting, presenting known masterpieces in a new light, as well as exploring lesser-known gems for the medium.”

The players’ level of technical and musical control makes their performances an experience that won’t quickly be forgotten, and like the world’s greatest string quartets, their close personal relationships give them a particular edge.

“We have played together and been extremely close friends for many years, which adds something very personal to our musical dialogue, something which is unique and our own,” says Shaun.

One performance only in Sydney.
