This free and popular event showcases the very best of Aboriginal art, crafts, bushfoods and entertainment.

Presented by First Hand Solutions, the much-loved Blak Markets will pop-up at Stargazer Lawn from 10am to 4pm for a lively open-air market with more than 20 stalls selling a range of unique products and food by Aboriginal makers and food producers from around New South Wales. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase artwork.

The day will begin with a smoking ceremony at 10.15am by Margret Campbell from Dreamtime Southern X, followed by live music, dance performances, workshops and traditional Indigenous games for children.

Triple J Unearthed High Indigenous Award winner, 16-year-old Indigenous singer-songwriter Rebecca Hatch will perform live; the Ngaran Ngaran traditional dancers will run dance workshops for children and adults; and Larry Brandy Storytellers will present interactive hunting and gathering performances for children.

A live bush tucker cooking demonstration will be hosted by celebrity chef, The Black Olive (Mark Olive) and the Tribal Warrior bushfood van will serve up delicious bush tucker alongside a range of local Aboriginal food producers.

A group of artists from the highly awarded APY Art Centre Collective will once again travel from South Australia to exhibit and sell some of the best-known and most collectable Indigenous artists in the country, as well as a host of young and emerging artists.

In a Blak Markets first, a panel discussion will be held on Stargazer Lawn with senior artists from APY Art Collective and Cara Pinchbeck, Senior Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales discussing contemporary versus traditional art produced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
