Musica Viva : BACH EDWARDS SKIPWORTH KODÁLY HAYDN

@ Sydney Conservatorium Of Music

$62 - $95

The Musica Viva Festival returns 9th - 12th April at Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Concert 4 Program:

BACH Cello Suite no 1 in G major
EDWARDS String Quartet no 3 ‘Summer Dances’
SKIPWORTH Piano Trio (World Premiere Performance)
KODÁLY Duo for Violin and Cello, op 7
HAYDN String Quartet op 76 no 1

This concert demonstrates all that is wonderful about festivals, with performers from around the world and a repertoire that treads the heady balance of familiar favourites and the exciting new. Mischa Maisky makes his final Sydney appearance for 2015 Bach's eternally popular first cello suite. Ross Edwards' most recent string quartet gets its first hearing in this city with the Orava Quartet, followed by the world premiere of the young Perth composer Lachlan Skipworth's Piano Trio. The virtuosity of Kodály's Duo is tempered by the sweetness of its folk inspirations; while Haydn's glorious sunny quartet op 76 no 1 is considered by many to be a pinnacle of the artform.
