@ Sydney Conservatorium Of Music

$62 - $95

The Musica Viva Festival returns 9th - 12th April at Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Concert 5 Program:

RAVEL Menuet sur le nom d’Haydn
RAVEL Gaspard de la nuit
HAAS String Quartet no 2, op 7 ‘From the Monkey Mountains’
GNATTALI Sonata for Cello and Guitar
GLAZUNOV String Quintet, op 39

Aleksandar Madžar gets proceedings off to a thrilling start in Ravel's fantasy for solo piano, Gaspard de la nuit – easy for audiences, but a famous test of artistry, technique and stamina for the performer. The Pavel Haas Quartet takes us into the picturesque world of its namesake with Haas' intriguing second quartet, joined by percussion as the composer intended. Karin Schaupp and Umberto Clerici light up the stage with the exotic Brazilian complexities of Gnattali's unusual duo before Nicolas Altstaedt and the Doric Quartet form a powerful Festival combination for Glazunov's mighty Quintet.
