Robert Forster and Zan Rowe: On Friendship

@ Australian National Maritime Museum

$30 - $40 + bf

“The desire for friendship comes quickly. Friendship does not.” Aristotle

Singer-songwriter Robert Forster, who Nick Cave called "the truest and strangest poet of our generation," is coming together with Triple J broadcaster Zan Rowe at the Australian National Maritime Museum's Lighthouse Gallery to discuss the nature of friendship. In our social media saturated world it has never been easier to ‘connect’ with another person, yet to truly establish a life-long friendship remains a rare privilege. What is at the heart of a good friendship? How can we navigate the loyalty and vulnerability required to maintain a deep, creative friendship?

Forster (known as a member and key songwriter in The Go-Betweens, as well as for his solo work) will explore his friendship with long time creative collaborator Grant McLennan and help us understand the core values underpinning this intense, creative, sometimes fraught friendship that represented a genuine meeting of artistic minds. This event is brought to us by The School of Life
