Strangers on a Train

@ Golden Age Cinema and Bar

$21

Based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel and directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Strangers on a Train is one of the most classic psychological crime thrillers of all time. As you might have guessed from the title, two strangers meet… on a train. Guy Haines (Farley Granger) is a young amateur tennis star who wants to divorce his wife for another woman and the dream of a new career, while Bruno Anthony (Robert Walker) is nothing much more than a charming sociopath. Recognising Guy, Bruno tells him about his idea of committing a perfect crime, and asks Guy to join him in his double murder plot...

Featuring what would become some of Hitchcock’s signature cinematic flourishes, Strangers on a Train is one of his most taut thrillers. Even if you’ve not seen it before, you’re sure to recognise some iconic scenes like the murder in an amusement park. And, as with all of his films, keep your eye out for a Hitchcock cameo and the added bonus of his daughter Patricia playing the character Barbara Morton.
