From the wonderful and inspiring to the thought-provoking, say hola to the 12th annual Sydney Latin American Film Festival (SLAFF) this September (07-11). Returning to Dendy Opera Quays, the Festival will screen a specially curated program of captivating contemporary Latin American cinema: eight feature films, two documentaries, and seven shorts, along with vibrant opening and closing night parties, over five jam-packed days.

Opening the 2017 Sydney Latin American Film Festival is the award-winning Cuban film On the Roof in a special opening night fiesta!

Yasmani, Vito and Anita gather daily to pass the time sharing dreams and making plans. When they set up their own business for locals, they learn more about themselves than they ever expected.

From 6:30pm enjoy a bite from Pablo’s Kitchen + glass of wine or beer on arrival!

Following the film on 7 September, join the OPENING NIGHT FIESTA @ The Basement featuring Armandito and Trovason.

Armandito and Trovason is a traditional 9-piece Latin band under the leadership and musical direction of legendary Cuban trumpeter, composer and arranger Armando Garcia.

With an authentic repertoire including all the most popular rhythms of Cuba, ranging from the style of the Buena Vista Social Club to Afro-Cuban Jazz, Son/Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Rumba and Timba, their spontaneity and energy is guaranteed to lift you off your feet and have you dancing all night long!
