How To Dress Like A Rock Star

The man that Rolling Stone magazine called the creator of “rock’s greatest single body of riffs” on guitar, Keith Richards (affectionately nicknamed Keef) turns 75 on Tuesday 18 December 2018. (Or should we say 215, as the man says himself due to lack of sleep - this means he’s lived three lifetimes.)

If you want to dress like a rock star there is no better example than the birthday boy himself. So the question becomes, how do you dress like Keith Richards?

Start with a hat or headband, and sunnies (yes even indoors), add some khol around the eyes (yeup even if they’re hidden under the sunglasses). Skinny jeans are a must. Sequins are great for a jacket and snakeskin for boots. Add an optional big scarf and statement ring. And did someone say velvet?

According to this Vogue article “...no one wore velvet better than the Rolling Stones in the sixties and seventies, especially Keith Richards.

The birthday boy’s rock’n’roll artefacts are on display right now in Sydney, as part of more than 50 years of The Rolling Stones in Exhibitionism - Hall 7 Level 4 ICC Exhibition Centre Darling Harbour. Exhibitionism includes memories of Richards’ life and musical career from meticulous notes on early performances rehearsals and payments in a small diary he kept through to lyric books and a gallery of his guitars, just to mention a few from more than 500 Stones’ items and hours of exhibition viewing. And of course Richards can be seen performing with other Stones’ band members in the 3D concert within the exhibit.

To help ‘Keef’ celebrate why not turn up at the Rolling Stones’ Exhibit on the day of his birthday (prompt that’s Tuesday 18 December) in Sydney this year dressed as ‘Keef’! And if even  you are not in the mood for dress ups, all tix are just $15 for the birthday celebrations. Just for his birthday mind you.

Then celebrations continue all through December with special Keith Richards’ birthday day pass pricing at Exhibitionism all month:

Adult $25

Concession $20

Kids $15 (12 and under are free)
