How To Live A Soulful Life: Open Your Heart

Here in Australia October is a month dedicated to mental health awareness. There are so many aspects to this. I was rather amazed when I looked at the website for the mental health awareness, in what they focus on. Their 10 tips for reducing stressing included focusing on gratitude, increasing patience, focusing on social connections, and more. And the tagline was "Share the Journey". Obviously this was about sharing the pain so as not to carry the pain alone or go into isolation. But there is potentially a bigger message here of sharing the journey.

For me, what is in this and the bigger picture for humanity (collectively and individually) is to share the journey of the heart. The journey is to share the heart. Too many of us do not share our heart enough. You may think this sounds severe or strong. But what if this was true?

What if the answer to many aspects of life was to open the heart? What if we could change our ways to make decisions with the heart? For so long has there been a lot, quite a lot of shame about people making decisions with their hearts. What if that was the elevated awareness, uplifted consciousness that we all need to reach to make decisions with our heart. It doesn’t mean being irrational or illogical, but what if it meant to be more in alignment with our true self, of our whole self? What if it was a representative of the bigger picture of who we are, and how we are in this journey what we call ‘life’.

“To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business and your business in your heart." Thomas J. Watson

In ancient Chinese teachings, the ‘heart houses the mind and the soul'. So the heart carries great significance in so many ways. Also in Chinese Medicine, the heart is like the king of the kingdom. The heart is the leading organ for the rest of the organs in the physical body. So the heart is literally “the king”. If the heart houses our mind and our soul, then the way to change our thinking is to change our heart. The way to expand our awareness and consciousness is to open our hearts.

Many of us think we have an open heart, but is your heart open? Very easily, we might have a defensive thought or two that come up when somebody mention opening of the heart, whereas others may respond, ‘oh I once trusted my heart with another person, and then I got hurt’. Only once? Is it realistic that our heart would only ache, have pain and feel hurt only once in this life with a relationship? Sure, many people have felt hurt in a relationship more than once.

The question is what do we do with that hurt? Do we hold on to it and does it get trapped in the heart? Or do we make a decision to heal the pain, to release the pain, release the attachments that are often causes the pain? Or do we choose to keep our heart open despite the pain? Do we project the pain further to the future to other situations, people, relationships and more. If we do, we inevitably end up looking up the world through a lens of that hurt and that pain. The choice is ours. Sometimes we are aware of this. Sometimes we are not. Therefore I say, the journey is to share the heart. The more we open the heart, especially when we have resistance to it, the more we can overcome obstacles and cross hurdles that otherwise we wouldn’t be able to, instead of them remaining as barriers in our heart like ‘shut doors'.

“The less you open your heart to others, the more your heart suffers." Deepak Chopra

There is a saying that goes “argue for your limitations and sure enough they are yours”. The same applies to either opening the heart or closing the heart. We have a choice, always.

Many alternative medicine modalities are closely aligned with the 5 Element theory. The 5 Elements are also a Universal Law because the 5 Elements manifest in every aspects of life. The seasons are aligned with the 5 Elements. The organs in the physical body, emotions in the emotional body are aligned with the 5 Elements. One of the tips for stressing less was to increase patience. Patience is the positive emotion related to the Wood Element. The organ that governs this emotion is the liver in the physical body, and a pair organ is the gall bladder. The gall bladder is yang, the liver is yin.

If we have impatience, irritability, frustration, it could be because our emotional body is out of balance. It could be because our liver is not completely balanced and calm and peaceful. Imbalances within the liver organ or within the whole Wood Element in the body could cause us to have irritability, impatience and more. Of course these emotions can escalate.

So this is something to perhaps explore if you have not come across this wisdom previously. Many people worry a lot. Worry that keeps them up at night - not just a little bit of worry but really worry that goes around and round in the head in circles, just one thought after another building like a snow ball. This relates to the Earth Element and to the spleen organ.

Fear corresponds to kidneys. Many times we have fear that we are not even aware of, but the fear could be fuelling our thoughts and affecting the quality of our thinking, affecting the peace of our mind, the calmness of our mind. Of course the emotional states, and then the mental states can escalate sometimes rapidly, sometimes slowly all the time.

The point I am trying to make is how connected the emotional body and mental body are. Sometimes we can dissipate our intense emotions by disciplining our thinking. Sometimes we can calm the mind by releasing the emotions and connecting with the emotions and releasing it, allowing it to create healing overall in our soul heart mind and body. So depending on the situation and the person, we can approach the challenge of the situation, either through our thoughts or through the emotional body.

The soul power which addresses matters from the spiritual body is the highest level. The physical body, the physical level is the last. Sometimes if we have a lot of negative thinking, worry, fear, anxiety, depression, anger, frustration and more, they start to affect our physical body. Some people have digestive system issues. They cannot eat. They feel nauseous or they eat a lot. So it starts to finally affect the physical body.

So therefore addressing the matter through the spiritual body could be the one that brings the longest lasting results, the highest effect, the quickest effect, most profound effect for our challenge. So therefore you can speak to the soul of your own self. How about if you spoke to the soul of that emotion, to that organ or the soul of that belief, that mindset, the expectation you have and more?

“What is uttered from the heart alone, will win the hearts of others to your own." Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I would like you to do a spiritual practice with me now. I have introduced the simple mantra, this simple song Love Peace & Harmony before. The first line goes like this: “I love my heart and soul”

Body Power: sitting up straight, placing your right hand on your heart, left hand on your navel.

Why? Remember the heart houses the mind and soul. So when we transform the frequency of our heart, we transform negative thoughts bring the frequency of our heart lower. Positive thoughts uplift the frequency at which the heart vibration.

So therefore giving love to our heart and soul can bring deep and profound peace to our heart and peace of mind.

Sound Power: So simply repeat this, maybe for 3 to 5 minutes.

I love my heart and soul.
I love my heart and soul.
I love my heart and soul.
I love my heart and soul.
I love my heart and soul.
I love my heart and soul.
I love my heart and soul.
I love my heart and soul.
I love my heart and soul.

Mind Power: Visualise golden light in your heart or maybe rainbow light or purple light or white light, whatever colour light resonates with you as you do this. Repeat it as long as you need to. Every time a negative thought comes, allow it to be released. Simply say, “thank you and say - I do love my heart and soul”.

“Breathing in, I am aware of my heart. Breathing out, I smile to my heart and know that my heart still functions normally. I feel grateful for my heart." Nhat Hanh

You can listen to this silently as a meditation. You can download the song for meditation from LovePeaceHarmony.org or you can simply use the 1-line mantra to transform your heart, to open your heart.

Observe yourself in your daily decision making. How does this decision align with my heart? What do I really feel in my heart? How would my heart think? If I was to ask my heart what it thinks, what would be the answer?

Develop the qualities of your heart. Develop the wisdom of your heart. Develop the intelligence of your heart, as the heart intelligence is the higher intelligence at this time.

I send you my deepest heart love. Love you Love you Love you. Have a beautiful blessed day.

May you live a soulful life,
Master Mirva
