Free Citizen Science Training Day

22nd Nov 2022

The Sydney Basin Koala Network is hosting a free Citizen Science Training Day and Community Launch at Rosemeadow Community Hall this Saturday 26 November. The day will be the ultimate chance for koala lovers to learn from experts and develop the skills to become a Koala Citizen Scientist and help protect koalas in the greater Sydney region.

The Sydney Basin Koala Network (SBKN) was established by WIRES and the Total Environment Centre to create a collaborative and supportive network for koala advocates across the region.

After a morning presentation and learning session with koala ecology experts, you’ll have the chance to practise your newly acquired skills in the bush. These skills will see you identifying koalas, their key traits, their age, their scat, and koala food tree species. Additionally, you’ll learn where, when and how to report your data so it can be used to help protect koalas.

After the training day stick around for the SBKN Community Launch to learn more about the network and inform how the network can best support your group’s koala efforts. At the launch light refreshments will be provided and you will get the chance to interact with other koala advocates.
