5am @ The Lansdowne

When I was buying my coffee at the markets this morning, chatter round the stand was lamenting there's no where to go out in Sydney. In the hours that count, late night. You know. You've heard it before. Lock out. Keep Sydney Open. And what is it that has happened to make this city so vanilla?

Once upon a time, Sydney had a thriving music scene. The pub music scene is where bands got their start. The Sandringham (later Newtown Social and now Holey Moley), the Hopetoun, the Harold Park Hotel have all faded. Truth is the embers of the fire have still been burning in an underground music scene and warehouse parties. Until TONIGHT...

Jake Smyth (Mary's) is putting it on the line to save iconic music venues The Basement and The Lansdowne, and now drinks company spiced rum Baron Samedi have come to the party to sponsor Saturdays 10pm to 5am at The Lansdowne for Dance Till You're Dead.

"When we re-opened our doors in 2017 it was said that we were returning from the grave, anew. We’ve always believed in the power of live music in resurrecting Sydney’s culture and creating killer vibes" Jake cheers.

“We’re stoked to partner with The Baron Samedi to present Saturday nights. Events that run till 5am and get people dancing till dawn is exactly what Sydney nightlife needs.”

The new weekly Saturday night party has been developed through a shared passion for a vibrant and creative Sydney nightlife – combining all the elements that make it a reality; the venue, the music, and the people.

To launch the partnership, Australian music mogul Stephen ‘Pav’ Pavlovic, known for touring with influential artists including Nirvana, Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters and Daft Punk, has curated an epic line-up, bringing back classic Modular moments with DJ sets from Kim & Julian (The Presets), Robbie & Tony (The Avalanches), and Beni & Jamie (Bang Gang) as well as Stoney Roads DJs.

The new weekly party kicks off on TONIGHT Saturday 7 September, with Bill Kardashian (Motorik), Reenie (Green Buzzard), Estée Louder and Mix Mouse, between 10pm and 5am at The Lansdowne Hotel, Chippendale and continues every Saturday.
