Buffets are part of our Sydney social culture. The all-you-can-eat buffet has been a force in home entertaining and for outings- from the ubiquitous salad bars at budget steakhouses to rows of bain maries at the local club. Now there are more choices. Sydney has lifted its all-you-can-eat game. Buffet you've come a long way baby.

So for your taste enjoyment here are five of our top choices. Some of these picks are available anytime, and some like the Taste Of Thailand Food Festival, are available for a snippet as a special treat.

1. Seafood Buffet at Sheraton On The Park

If there's a special occasion all-you-can-eat buffet in Sydney, this is it. Overlooking the central Sydney greenery of Hyde Park, Feast restaurant offers stunning fresh all you can eat seafood. You can stick to the platters after platter of glorious seafood if you like. Or you can try one of the many international dishes also on buffet offer. And if you still need more choices you can to up with an la carte Feast.

3. Taste Of Thailand Food Festival: Shangri-La Hotel

Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney’s Executive Chef Hemant Dadlani is excited to host the hotel’s first festival focusing on Northern Thai food. He'll be joined by guest chef Pawitra In-Eya of Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand, who has flown in for the festival. Head Chef Aum of the recently opened Moon restaurant in Darlinghurst will also join the festival with his signature dishes that blend the best of both European fine dining and traditional Thai gastronomy. Dishes will include Kao Soi Beef Cheek, Steamed Seabass with Chili Lime Sauce, 72 Hour Braised Ribs and Northern Curry Noodle Soup, a popular dish that originated in Chiang Mai. The dessert station boasts the sweetest of finishes, featuring authentic Thai delicacies, including Mango Sticky Rice and Water Chestnut with Coconut Milk.

The Taste Of Thailand buffet is available at the Shangri-La Hotel Café Mix this April 20th to 29th. The Buffet dinner is available from 6.00 pm – 9.30 pm at $65 per person. Friday and Saturday night buffet, including seafood is at $85 per person. Saturday and Sunday buffet lunch is available noon – 2.30 pm at $65.00 per person. 176 Cumberland Street.

4. Ashfield RSL Club Buffet 88

The Ashfield RSL Club buffet is a Sydney dining institution and the best value feed our city has to offer. While members enjoy even further discounts, club visitors pay only $15.50 for weekday lunches, through to Friday and Saturday night pricing which peaks at $25.50 per head. The All-You Can-Eat buffet includes a large number of traditional Chinese dishes, western foods, several roasts and a new BBQ Charcoal BBQ. There is a selection of fresh seafoods and salads. To top it all off they have a large variety of desserts and a free Ice Cream machine with cones.

5. Om Vegan Kitchen

You don't have to be vegan to dig this amazing love filled food. The buffet is available every lunch time except Sunday and is laden not only heart and soul goodness, but is jam packed with deliciousness too. Added to this the casual joint emits an obvious peaceful energy. Get yourself some of the ever rotating changes that can include Massaman Curry, Rocket&Sprouts, Mac n Cheese, Mixed Salad, Not-tuna Raw Sushi, Turmeric Veggie Rice, Pink Sauerkraut, and Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni. Once you've filled your plate up, you pay by weight.
