The Story of The 5 Star Dive Bar presented by The Balvenie and Ramblin' Rascal Tavern
Who doesn't enjoy the luxurious lush flavour of a quality single malt whisky enjoyed in the comfort of familiar, friendly dive bar? Sydney head down the stairs and see...
Drum rolls please... those in the know, (step up please Balvenie Brand Ambassador, Ross Blainey) say that 2021 is the year to celebrate Balvenie Whisky within the surrounds of a 5 Star Dive Bar ... hint, hint, yes, the perfect bar match of course, is the Ramblin' Rascal Tavern, a hidden basement venue in the heart of Sydney's CBD at 60 Park Street (entrance on Elizabeth Street).
Ramblin' Rascal Tavern is the type of bar where ground breaking discussions take place over serious drinks and good times. Unpretentious yet with a clubby, comfortable feel with its cosy leather lounge booths, and personable beekeeps, (step right up Charlie Lehmann), it certainly lives up to being a 5 Star Dive Bar. It is for these very reasons that The Balvenie teamed up with Ramblin Rascal to provide a perfect environment to enjoy its quality, luxurious single malt whisky.
In case you missed our 2019 Sydney Scoop feature, The Balvenie is a range of single malt whiskies crafted way over there in Scotland by Malt Master David Stewart MBE and his apprentice Kelsey McKechnie. Each expression is unique with its own story but all are rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by a distinctive honeyed character.
Back in 2019 we discovered The Balvenie Stories Range with The Sweet Toast of American Oak and Kelsey's search for a special oak barrel in Kentucky, The Week of Peat, and A Day of Dark Barley. Now in 2021 we have tasted the latest addition to The Story Range - The Edge of BurnheadWood. Aged for 19 years, it already captures attention but to add to its intrigue, the smoke is uniquely derived from heather than than peat, to give a twist of smoky bounce layered over the signature single malt honeyed flavour. Beyond The Balvenie Stories Range there are also 22 other whiskies are currently on offer.
Of course you can stick with tradition and drink your whisky neat or on the rocks, but for both connoisseurs and trail blazers alike,
