Highlander Whisky High Tea

Picture this. The patina of dark old wood, the embrace of soft leather, and add a wee patch of tartan.

With its own discreet street entrance, the Sir Stamford Hotel Circular Quay delivers all of that gift in its new Highlander Whisky Bar launched last month. The list is impressive, with drams that you can't find elsewhere in this town.

Whisky of the Month showcases rare and hard to find whisky from around the world. Added to this there will be regular Whisky Masterclasses that will suit any level of knowledge. I remember sitting at a dinner once, with visiting distillers from Scotland and I asked the most simple questions. "What type of glass is best for tasting?" The answer was any glass but use the same size and style when comparing whiskies. "Should I add wate?r" Since that time, I have met many more distillers, and clinked glasses with Master Blenders, and so I have developed my own answer to that, which I won't go into at this time. Needless to say, a Masterclass never hurt anyone, and everyone from novice to connoisseur can always learn something new.

Sir Stamford Circular Quay has already established itself as the home of great whisky events, from hosting annual whisky shows to regular Whisky & Cheese tastings. But what we are most excited about is the daytime transformation that has just arrived.

The Highlander Bar is launching a unique Whisky High Tea which will offer a bespoke twist on what the hotel is already doing deliciously well. A tempting variety of savoury delights will be complimented by sweet whisky and whiskey infused treats such as the Jack Daniels Apple Mousse Slice, Jim Beam Bourbon Crème Brulee Tart and the Johnnie Walker Caramel Square. The tempting edibles will be paired with a beverage flight of three Chivas Regal whiskies.

Served daily 11am to 4pm Monday to Sunday this luxurious indulgence is everyday affordable at $79.
