Strut With Mutts

Piping-hot personal trainers, charming canines and one-off charity cocktails are just some of the drool-worthy offerings that will ignite Sydney’s bar scene next week when the first ever STRUT WITH MUTTS launches as part of Bars March’s annual fundraising celebrations.

Kicking off at 5pm at the Frisco Hotel on Friday March 24th STRUT WITH MUTTS will see Sydney’s hottest animal-loving fitness pros join forces to walk shelter dogs between two of the city’s most beloved watering holes – all in support of Animal Welfare League NSW.

With a party at both ends, the inaugural double-suburb event invites all dog-doters to join the walk-to-walk and revel in a hike with hunks and hounds for a worthy cause.

Mingle with a smokin’ trainer, pamper an adorable pooch and cool-down with one of the pubs’ special Bars March fundraising cocktails.

Following cocktails at the Frisco Hotel, the celebratory stroll will kick on between 6.30pm and 7pm, rounding out at The Carrington in Surry Hills with some more mouthwatering limited-edition Bars March cocktails.

Along the way, and at the two dog-friendly venues, partygoers will be able to meet hounds seeking ‘forever homes’ and take selfies to win prizes for the most ‘pawsome’ Instagram pics.

The trainers, including Scott Gooding, Mike Webster, Dylan Rivier and Ben Lucas, star in the Hot Dudes and Dogs 2017 Calendar, which will be on sale on the night, with all proceeds going to the cause.

This winning combo of pecs and pooches is the latest in Bars March’s line-up of fun antics that raise money for animals each March in and around Sydney’s big-hearted bars.

Sydney’s only annual charity celebration of bar culture, Bars March brings some of the city’s most iconic venues together every March under the banner #haveadrinksaveadog to create and sell a special BARS MARCH cocktail all month, with a portion of proceeds going to Animal Welfare League NSW.

As well as The Carrington and Frisco Hotel, 2017 participating venues include: O Bar and Dining (CBD), Kittyhawk (CBD), Della Hyde (Darlinghurst) The Botanist (Kirribilli), SoCal (Neutral Bay), Lobo Plantation (CBD), Panama House (Bondi), The Royal Leichardt, Miss Peaches (Newtown), Crane Bar (Kings Cross), El Topo Mexican (Bondi Junction) and Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel.

BARS MARCH Celebrity ambassadors include TV vet Dr Katrina Warren, garden guru Jamie Durie and a squad of four-legged Instagram stars.

The cheeky alternative to dry charity months has shown for over eight years that it’s possible to do good while having fun responsibly, with $80,000 raised so far for Animal Welfare League NSW – all through enjoyment of Sydney’s best bars.

"Over the years at Bars March we’ve found that magic happens when we combine dogs, hot guys, cocktails and kindness. We’re hoping for another epic March of good times for a good cause, and this event will definitely be a highlight!" says Bars March Founder, Amy Cooper.

Adam Micola, owner of dog-friendly and newly refurbished Frisco Hotel adds: “We’re excited to be part of Bars March and helping raise funds for the Animal Welfare League NSW. We’re definitely a dog-friendly venue, with so many locals with pets in our community, not to mention our resident dog Tilly, who our Bars March cocktail is named after. We’re hoping the Tilly’s Delight cocktail is popular this month as it’s for such a good cause - and that lots of people stop by on the 24th to help kickstart the Strut for Mutts event!"

During BARS MARCH, members of the public can show their support by visiting participating venues and buying a BARS MARCH charity cocktail, attending fundraising events and taking part in social media competitions.
