Mafi Mitlo

From cafeteria we move to canteen, and now Mafi Mitso takes "make food not war" a step further.

Walk down the stairs Kings Cross stair past that sign into the bunker and the counter to order is facing right in front of you.

"I've had customers say that our baba ganoush tastes better than their mother's" say our waitress Kitty. Hummous and a super stong garlic Toum are also offered in generous proportions.

Along with wraps Mafi Mitso has on the blackboard behind the registers. But the Mafi Mitlo war beast to be the enamel tray of lamb leg with tzatziki. Or chicken (which is changing to thigh), pomegranate maple pork neck, beef kafta, falafel. Of course there is tabouleh for a side, and other salads include iceberg or fattoush. But it is the kibbeh that are the real prize to fight for. As are the mince meat filled pastries, sambousek.

Make sure to grap a $5 glass of wine or a beer when it's happy hour, although the beer and wine, tap and tinnie prices, are pretty reasonable at anytime.

Once you've placed your order, the tables and stools are spaciously placed in this well lit 'war zone'.

And if that's not enough for you, take the underground tunnel to the Back Back in Kazbah next door - like we did - for a cocktail or two to finish your night.
