Planar Darling Harbour Launches New Bar And Menu

Darling Harbour’s latest food and beverage hotspot, Planar, has officially launched their chic new bar to complement their brand new menu this week. Their menu showcases the restaurant’s flare for modern Australian cuisine with a savvy international twist.

Planar encapsulates a graceful panoramic view of the harbour, but it’s relatively tucked away from the waterfront. This makes it quite a fitting venue to kickback after a busy day in the office or on a Sunday afternoon with a couple of mates hoping to stay away from crowds.

The Mediterranean décor with alfresco dining pairs well with Chef Lazafame’s new menu that features fresh seafood, tasty share plates and delicious stone-baked pizzas among other dishes.

In particular, Planar’s fried cauliflower, stone-baked trio dips, braised duck salad and Margherita pizza were delights to eat, but of course, their new menu has such a generous amount of options that it would take a bit of tasting to find the dish for you.

As aforementioned, their pizza was actually quite impressive (ranging from $23 to $28). Planar’s knack for pizza-making has allowed them to put together classes for those of you who are eager to learn how to craft the perfect pizza dough, how to stretch it like a pro, top it with your favourite ingredients and see it oven-cooked to perfection. Planar’s pizza-making classes can be enjoyed with a group of 10 friends at $75 per head.

If you’re going for drinks, Planar’s new bar offers signature cocktails from the ‘Happy Birthday’ (Baileys chocolate deluxe, Cointreau, vanilla vodka, vanilla ice cream and Oreos) to a ‘Lychee Rose Mojito’ (White rum, Lychee liquor. Rose liquor, Lemon juice, Sugar, Mint topped with Soda).

You can learn to make these for yourself as Planar offers cocktail masterclasses with their in-house mixology expert sharing his flare bartender tips and tricks. These workshops require a minimum of 10 cocktail lovers at $95 per head.

All-in-all, you can take your pick at Planar – Eat. Drink. Or both. Don’t let this cold Winter weather stop you from giving Planar a try for yourself! (their heaters outside are definitely effective).
