The Rise of The Bakehouse...

Sydney’s reputable food scene has been expanding and over flowing into the neighbouring suburbs and The Canterbury Bake House is a perfect example of this. Located in the institutional Canterbury Leagues Club, The Bakehouse is only a teaser of the benchmark that has been set by  the club's $120 million injection to making the 'dining precinct' a must see by anyone who dares to venture past the 'city gates'.

Meeting with the F&B Manager and given the detailed tour of the future of the whole complex, The Bakehouse is ready and made for those who have no desire to go anywhere else but spend the whole day sipping coffee, dining in an la carte style set in what fees like a home away from home. That is if your home had its own bakery. Open 24 hours a day, the menu caters literally for all. From very generous servings of share plates, hearty breakfasts to exclusively made deserts to gluten free breads, deserts and meals such as the delicious lightly dusted calamari to make those with intolerances feel welcome and lost for choice.

With renovations in place around the premise, don’t let that distract or turn you away. The staff admitted to spending most of their off time at the precinct since its attached to a 24 hour gym, finding no reason to leave when they clock off.

The decor turns outside dining indoors, with fresh colour choices and wicker chairs. With a $10 000 colour coordinated book library to the friendly and familiar staff, you will find no reason to leave. And that is one of the goals the venue has focussed on.  The “library” is adorned by private tables and chairs ideal for those meetings that have no timeframes or the luxury to run around Sydney. Also suited for those who work alone and want to create a mobile office, The Bakehouse will keep the caffeine coursing through your veins, and unique juice combinations hydrated in between meals and caffeine hits.

Personally this reminds me of the well thought out and spacious dining precinct in Dubai’s Dubai Mall. With a park being built onto of the 5 story underground carpark, Weddings will be taking place with location photos executed within the premise. Creating the ultimate one stop venue.

Personal recommendations from the menu :

Gluten Free Grilled Chicken Salad
All Day Big Breakfast
Potato Fries & Sweet Potato Fries
Gluten Free Angus Burger
Gluten Free Dusted Baby Calamari
Chocolate & Caramel Cake
Apple Pie Cake
Rise and Shine Juice
& finally.... GREAT coffee!

If the Bakehouse is the benchmark set for the rest of the dining venues to follow suit, then dare i say i'll be returning to review the additions as they open their doors!

Bon Appetite!
