As ethical eating and dining for a cause grow in popularity, there's a fantastic way to make a difference while enjoying great food and wine at the brand new The Song Kitchen at Song Hotel on inner-city Wentworth Avenue.

After extensive renovations, the inner-city hotel on Sydney’s Wentworth Avenue today officially opened as the Song Hotel with a sophisticated new restaurant and bar open to the public.  With 100 per cent of the venue's profits funding much needed support and services of YWCA NSW for women experiencing domestic violence, it's an excellent way for people to make a difference with every dollar while enjoying fantastic food and wine.

The refurbishment and rebranding of the hotel follow the successful launch of The Song Kitchen initiative in 2016 in a joint venture with Mirvac which sees YWCA NSW operate the café and catering services in Mirvac's George Street Headquarters on George St providing a premium service for Mirvac and its guests.

The Song Kitchen at Hyde Park is led by young Head Chef Charlotte Gonzales who comes to Song from Sous Chef roles at Merivale’s renowned Ucello and Fred’s restaurants in Sydney.

Charlotte says she is delighted to be stepping into the Head Chef position at The Song Kitchen.

“I am very excited to be stepping into the Head Chef position at The Song Kitchen. We have a great team in the kitchen and a fantastic menu that we look forward to launching. The Song Kitchen is a sophisticatedrestaurant and the menu focuses on quality seasonal produce featuring an extensive breakfast menu, a range of dishes perfect for sharing and more substantial plates for lunch and dinner.  I’m so excited to be joining The Song Kitchen at this very exciting time as we open our doors to a hip venue in Sydney that helps people make a difference every day.”

The Song Kitchen breakfast menu features a selection of café favourites ranging from homemade granola to bacon and eggs, avocado on toast and buttermilk pancakes. For lunch and dinner, the menu showcases a variety of entrees designed for sharing including Sydney rock oysters, a charcuterie plate and pork terrine with apricot, pistachio and char grilled bread. An array of elegant bistro style dishes are on offer for mains ranging from duck breast with sautéed potatoes and mushroom, grain fed sirloin with shoestring fries, a lamb shoulder with great northern beans puree and a tagliolini pasta with spanner crab, zucchini, chilli and garlic. The restaurant will also be showcasing a selection of cheeses and desserts. The wine list has been carefully curated by high profile sommelier Sophie Otton to showcase the best NSW and Australian wines. Song is proud to confirm over half of the winelist is the produce of women winemakers or Estate owners.

YWCA NSW CEO Anna Bligh says the organisation is very pleased with the rebrand of the Y hotel and the new Song hospitality venues will help fund much needed services and support for domestic violence victims.

“People want to make a difference and support a cause and The Song Kitchen leads the way in allowing you to do exactly that. Guests at The Song Kitchen will enjoy speciality coffee, delicious food, wine and service and know they are making a difference.”
