The Union Hotel Newtown

The Union Hotel is located down the far end of King Street, closer to St. Peters station than Newtown station. We've always been a fan. We've seen bands. We've drunk beers (and there are 22 rotating taps) and other bevvies - the spirits back bar is impressive! particularly the gins!! Check on the mixers because while stock standard, The Union Hotel also serves "the fancy stuff" such as FeverTree tonic - you just gotta ask.

Just a bit over five years ago, The Union Hotel introduced food. The menu has been evolving, but what a good job of great pub nosh at a good price that won't hurt the pocket. Tasty finger food, Union pub offerings have fries on the side.

2021 we've loved the Wham Bam Lamb Roll ($18), comforting lush from the Burger Buns menu. Declared by my mate, his no. 1 choice.

Golden Standards favourites' is the Fish Tacos ($18) - the fish is crumbed and crispy fast fried, the sauce finger lickin' good. That's my top tip.

Other best buddies come for the Snacks: Mac N' Cheese Balls are to swoon for and don't feint - only 9 bucks. Best bargain. But also utterly crunchy crispy delish! The best way to prop up the bar...

You can also rely on the Salt and Pepper Squid ($14) as a drinks companion.

Laid back, with a mixed age patronage, The Union Hotel is also the comfortable kind of place you'd be happy to know is your local. For a drink. For a feed. And for those of us that aren't exactly local, The Union Hotel is where we want to come for a casual night out, or to meet before the New Theatre Newtown, just up the road.

Good vibes. Good times.
