Is there anything more Australian than a beach kiosk turning out bacon and egg rolls ($13) for the early risers? Tathra Beach Kiosk is pretty iconic: just a series of open hatches on a white weatherboard cottage that it shares with Pividori's Tathra Beach a few steps from the sand.
Enjoy a Little Paradise Coffee Roasters coffee in your favourite form ($6/each) at one of three outdoor tables set under imported Norfolk Island pine trees now so pervasive they have come to symbolise the South Coast. The coffee is a little bitter and the bun a little dense, but the bacon is crisp and staring at that beautiful beachscape is hard to beat. So are the savoury muffins ($8/each) loaded with vegetables and feta, and served warm with chewy tops and pillowy soft interiors. While prices are on the high side I’d happily return: some places just capture where you want to be.
