Boy & Bear: Killian Gavin's Favourite Tunes

That's him, at the front, looking into the camera.  Killian was on tour with Boy & Bear in the US but sent us over some of the tunes he's been listening to on Spotify.  Here you go, you lucky thing.

Van Morrison - Sweet Thing

I had to start with Van Morrison. ‘Sweet Thing’ is a long time favourite of mine. It’s such a simple song but there’s so much feeling in the delivery.

First Aid Kit - Shattered and Hollow

This has one of the best chorus’ I have heard in a long time. The Swedish duo have so much energy and the melody is really special.

America - Sister Golden Hair

America do great melodies too, and slide guitar, so if I’d have to choose one of theirs, I’d go with Sister Golden Hair.

Beck - Say Goodbye

Beck’s latest release, Say Goodbye, may be my favourite of his. The banjo melody is cool, and the song really encapsulates the melancholy delivery that frequents the record.

Chris Issak - Wicked Game

I have to confess this makes it to the list. It was the first song I ever listened to on Spotify.

Jackson Browne - For Everyman

I never really spent much time with Jackson Brown until I downloaded Spotify. For Everyman is a really great tune. Helped me discover something different I really enjoy.

Kurt Vile - Baby's Arms

Is a great song which doesn't deviate from the main melody too much. Great for driving along a highway!

Neil Young - After the Gold Rush

I lost this CD years ago, so it’s great to have it back! Neil Young is always great and eclectic and I think is one of my favourites.

Radiohead - Pyramid Song

Just the best Radiohead song possibly ever.

Rodriguez - Cause

What a story! The delivery is so authentic. Love this song.

Ryan Adams - Ashes & Fire

Great title track of one of my favourite Ryan Adams records. The sounds are so beautiful across the board on this record.

Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water

Spent a lot of time on YouTube watching videos of this song being performed live. Just a killer song and delivery. Always stays on my phone.

The War On Drugs - Eyes To The Wind

Bob Dylan meets Bruce Springsteen. My favourite song on the record.

The War On Drugs - Come To The City

Still one of his best songs yet, off a previous record Slave Ambient

Wilco - I Am Trying To Break Your Heart

Have not heard this in a while, but man it's great.

Steve Miller Band - Jungle Love

To be honest, haven't spent much time with him either. This was a great introductory track. Great song and performance.

The National - Humiliation

Best song on the record. When the drum groove slightly shifts it's such a great shift in the feel. So powerful.

Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way

I always keep the greatest hits on my phone. Such a great collection.

David Gray - White Ladder

I never enjoyed this record back when it came out. Only recently have I spent time with it. Song after song has phenomenal melodies.

Radiohead - Codex

Captivating. Instant favourite off this latest record.
