Are you escaping Sydney this June long weekend, or having a Sydney staycation?

For those, like me, that will still be in town here's our teams five top tips on what to do.

1. ChilliFest is back at The Bank Hotel Sunday June 10, with the return of the chilli eating competition, hosted by everyone’s favourite queen, Tora Hymen. Can last year’s champ, who devoured some of the hottest chillies in Sydney, be overthrown by a new chilli champion? Every entry into the chilli eating competition on the day receives an official ChilliFest merchandise t-shirt.

2. The Oxford Tavern Queen's B'day Bash could be the way to start the weekend rolling, kicking back on Saturday June 9 with Black Betty bar-be-que from noon, DJs in the beer garden from 6pm with $15 Philter XPA jugs and $20 gin n’ tonic jugs.

3. Perch Creek are a band of five exuberant and multi-talented musicians, four of whom are siblings. This Melbourne-based international touring act write and perform harmony driven modern pop/folk music with a creative energy and fearless spirit. Catch their album launch at St. Stephens Hall Newtown with special guest Jumpin Jack William. Saturday June 9. Doors 7.30pm.

4. Soda Factory Baby Got Back – 90’s Long Weekend Party! Remember that time you went to an EPIC 90’s party? Well coming in HOT for Sunday June 10th - antics will begin from 6pm, and you can expect the best of the best R&B, Hip-Hop & Classic 90’s tunes. Get ready for bangers from the likes of C&C Music Factory, TLC, Aaliyah, Bobby Brown, Kris Kross, Bones Thugs-N-Harmony, Biggie, Pac, New Jack Swing, Haddaway, R- Kelly, Usher, Tony Toni Tone….the list goes on & on baby.

5. Beyond Art: Tao Calligraphy exhibition daily 10am to 9pm at Art Space Concourse Chatswood provides a more peaceful and healing alternative to some of the rowdier long weekend entertainment options. Witness Tao Oneness by Master Carol Liu, the world’s 1st and only Lineage Holder of Master Sha’s Tao Calligraphy, as she brings light, love and art together with each sacred stroke of her brush.
