Chase Zera: Five Things I Love About Sydney - The Oxford Street Edition

When Sydney based indie pop sensation Chase Zera (IG / TikTok) released her new single Jealous Sydney Scoop caught up with her to discover her favourite venues around her Oxford Street stomping grounds.

The new single Jealous follows up from the disco pop anthem Supernova (must watch video HERE), and sees Chase deliver another intoxicating delight. Reminiscent of Jamiroquai and Dua Lipa, the song has an infectious energy throughout!

Costume shopping at House of Priscilla

For as long as I can remember I’ve bought my costumes from Anthony at House of Priscilla. In my early teens as a dancer I would drive into the city with my Mum for fittings and design appointments in the store. I have suitcases full of House of Priscilla costumes at home that I still wear to parties and in my live shows. Whenever I have a music video, photoshoot, Mardi Gras, performance, DJ gig, costume party etc. I look forward to heading down Oxford St and browsing the incredible, colourful, sequin-filled, feather-filled store for new and beautiful costumes to add to my life-long collection.

A night out at Universal

Not only one of my favourite places on Oxford Street, but one of my favourite places in all of Sydney. The best music, the best atmosphere and the best Drag performances you’ll experience. I’ve met some of my best friends on nights out at Universal - it’s a place to let your hair down, dance for hours, watch a stunning show, sing along loudly and make memories.

Late night dinner at Big Poppa’s

Anyone who knows me knows how much I absolutely love Italian food and there’s no better place for an Italian feast than Big Poppa’s. They have the tastiest food, wine, cheese selection and cocktail menu, plus the best hip-hop music to jam along to while you chat away with friends and fill your belly. Possibly the best thing about Big Poppa’s is that it is open until 3am every night of the week, so it’s the perfect spot for a spontaneous and delicious late night feed/drink.

Dancing at Ching-A-Lings

I’ve had a lot of big nights singing at the top of my lungs on the dance floor at this cute and cozy New York loft style bar. From Oxford St it's a bit of a hidden hole-in-the-wall, and once you get to the entrance at the top of those steep stairs you’re always greeted with a great disco or pop song on the speakers. I love experiencing the local DJ’s and performers at Ching-A-Lings - they’re some of the best that Sydney has to offer. It’s a great spot to party both on the weekend and mid-week with friends.

Rooftop Drinks at Sure Studios

Arguably one of Sydney’s best kept secrets, this rooftop is the perfect space for an afternoon drink, boogie and the most beautiful sunset view. The rooftop lies above a recording studio, photography studio and creative office space so it’s a really great place for creatives to come together, especially on a Friday afternoon.
