It's all in the name isn't it?

Kurios translates from the French as curious or bizarre. You might say that Cirque du Soleil"s latest offering fits this definition well as audiences are given a curious mix of music, dance, mime, clowning,, acrobatic displays including trapeze work and skills of srtength and balance to give it an overall cabaret feel that wouldn't be out of place in 1920 Paris.

You can alight in the 1920s charm brought through the whole performance in music, attitude and old school circus play.

Some regular Cirque du Soleil attendees might be expecting something different given previous shows but for myself, a first timer I found plenty to laugh at, be in awe of, have my heart in my mouth. I was swept up in the entertaining experience of wafchinga circus that showcases the human form, and each circus members' ability to project an air of bravery, courage, vibrancy, and curiosity.

In addition to the circus physical performances of tumbling, diving and flying all over the stage, the audience was treated to a magnificent live orchestra and female singer. They played throughout the entire night as a backdrop to each act and for the dancing that led each scene of curiosity to the next and gave a vehicle for the wonderful unique costumes to come alive on stage.

I believe there is something for everyone in Kurios from the little kiddies to the great grandparents. Go with the flow. Be a kid again and be lifted out of the everyday with no expectations. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised at how much you enjoy the opportunity to escape from the everyday and see and hear something a little bit curious and bizarre.

Go see Kurios. Now showing at The Big Top in the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park until 29 December 2019. Prices start at only $50.
