POP UP IN A PENTHOUSE, presented by MARS in collaboration with Sydney based Arts consultancy SODA Arts and Ovolo Hotels is a celebration of contemporary Australian artists.

Guests are invited into the intimate setting of the penthouse suite of Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour, a building that itself is steeped in history. In this rare and unique opportunity to view the best room in the building, we enjoyed works from artists hailing from all over Australia.

The exhibition will feature the compelling works of 21 artists including: Aly Aitken, Chris Bennie, Harriet Body, Lars Breuer, Erin Coates, Penelope Davis, Stephen Haley, Sophia Hewson, Korban/Flaubert, Tony Lloyd, Lyn&Tony, Jane McKenzie, Dani McKenzie, Allan Mitelman, Hitesh Natalwala, Paula do Prado, Hannah Raisin, Grant Stewart, Datsun Tran.

The art journey begins as soon as you step through the hotel foyer with Grant Stewart’s robotic device, composing delicate drawings on canvas with the simple biro pen. Aly Aitken’s life-sized sculptures are scattered in the foyer and welcome guests to explore the transience of memory and the fear or losing it completely. Be mesmerised by Penelope Davis’ swarm of Jellyfish, handcrafted from the silicon casts of hard rubbish. They appear ethereal in the ‘fishbowl’ suite, drawing the viewer to contemplate the detriment of waste to our beautiful oceans and sea life.

The exhibition also opens guests to new art experiences including a video-art installation by Hannah Raisin who shares with us her whimsical approach to life.

These are just a few of the many cutting edge artists on exhibition at Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour.

The exhibition is open Friday 14 and Saturday 15 of June midday to 9pm.

Don’t miss the 48-hour exhibition!
