Parliament on King

Editor's Pick

Parliament on King is a heartwarming cafe and catering institution where asylum seekers and refugees are employed and trained in the basics of hospitality.

The cafe's standard menu is simple - good coffee, teas (served in gorgeous decorated pots), sandwiches and toasties.

They're open at night and licensed too, and often have events on such as  life drawing or some live music. The highlight of the calendar are their monthly Local Family Dinners where staff serve up a two course meal, family style, from their home countries.

Parliament on King is run as a social enterprise, with proceeds from all its avenues being used to fund the refugee and asylum seekers projects and training they undertake.

Staff are paid above award wages and there is no discrimination based on uncertainty of future living circumstances.

They run a Social Catering business, catering events of all sizes with local favourites from the staff's home countries - they've catered some large events and more information can be found on their website.
