The award winning Sydney Jewish Museum documents the history of the Jews in Australia, starting with the arrival of at least eight Jewish convicts on the first fleet and also daily life during the early years of colonisation. Its main purpose, however, is to educate about the Holocaust to ensure that events like these will not be repeated. Stories are told through videos, newspaper clippings and first hand accounts, and also through one of the museum guides, Olga Horak, who is a survivor of the Holocaust. The museum has a range of programs suitable for adults and children and is free on the first sunday of every month.
