Winter blues be gone, we have you sorted with five of our top picks for a warming Winter brekky in Sydney.

1. Veggie Big Breakfast, Revolver, Annandale

Can you truly call yourself a Sydney cafe crawler if you've not tried legendary Annandale institution Revolver? This corner cafe draws many a crowd with its hearty brekky fare, such as the Veggie Big Breakfast of eggs, eggplant, roast tomato and mushrooms baked in beans with avocado, feta, beetroot puree and Sonoma sourdough.

2. Pork & Fennel Sausage Roll, The Pig and Pastry, Petersham

Technically on their lunch menu, the sausage rolls at The Pig and Pastry are homemade, loved by locals and just delicious for an easy Winter brunch. On a sunny day you can get your food to go and take it across the road to the park for a little late morning picnic.

3. Pork Hock Hash, Excelsior Jones, Ashfield

Queen Street cafe Excelsior Jones put Ashfield on the brunch foodies' map a few years ago with its excellent food menu, bright interior, creative milkshakes and 5 Senses coffee done well. The Pork Hock hash, with loads of crispy potatoes and a perfectly poached eggs, is a delicious winter indulgence and also comes in a Salmon version.

4. Haloumi Nights bowl, Everyday Espresso, Redfern

One of the newer additions to the Redfern cafe scene, Everyday Espresso has quietly but settled in on its station-facing corner and its short yet creative menu of bowls has some killer Winter options. Haloumi Nights (pictured) is a fine example with loads of warm squishy grilled haloumi plus brown rice, avocado, beetroot, radish, tahini yoghurt and nuts. Hearty and satisfying while also full of goodness. Everyday Espresso's coffee is excellent too.

5. Beef Pho, AN Restaurant, Bankstown

And for something a little different, what's not to love about a big bowl of hot pho noodle soup for brekky on a cold morning? AN Restaurant is open from 7am every day, keeping satisfied those Sydneysiders who don't want to have to wait till their second meal of the day to delight in a bowl of their locally famous soup.
