The next month in Sydney is resplendent in caroling and community, including Australia’s Biggest Christmas Party! Woolworths Carols In The Domain. Yeup, it's a big one. But to make your end of year even bigger and brighter here is our choice for 2023 of fab five shows to get you channeling Christmas present.

Yes, Christmas is just a month away...

The much-anticipated annual tradition that is Noël! Noël! encapsulates the ebullient, open-hearted and giving spirit of the Brandenburg. The popular concert series touches on the religious but is firmly grounded in the spiritual in an uplifting program of familiar fare, including O Come All Ye Faithful and Stille Nacht, as well as surprising musical riches for the festive season. Inclusiveness and connection are at the heart of this concert series, with the music radiating a sense of excitement and beauty. You’ll smile, you’ll laugh and you’ll go home with great memories.

St Mary’s Cathedral holds its annual A Choral Christmas Celebration concert this year on 16 December. Year after year sell-out crowds have been delighted by this traditional Christmas experience, where the world-famous Saint Mary’s Cathedral Choir and celebrity readers offer glorious music and verse sure to gladden every heart with Christmas cheer. From Once In Royal David’s City to excerpts of Handel’s Messiah, there will be glorious music to celebrate this festive time of the year for the young and the young at heart.

The concert, accompanied by orchestra Sinfonia Australis, will feature music by J S Bach, Handel, Lauridsen, Rutter, and others. Prominent public figures will read seasonal texts, both sacred and secular, and the Archbishop of Sydney will give a Christmas reflection (at the 7 p.m. performance only).

The highlight for many audience-members will be the opportunity to join in singing with the choir and orchestra for such favourite carols as O Come, All Ye Faithful, Hark The Herald Angels Sing and more.

Trevor Ashley's Adults-Only Panto is back in 2023 for more laughter and fun. Sydney, prepare to be delightfully offended! The camp Christmas tradition of Trevor Ashley’s adults-only pantomime returns to the Seymour Centre from 7 December 2023 with a brand new show The White Mermaid or The Little Lotus.

Not remotely referencing a beloved musical film or a cult TV show, the vivacious Tania McMermaid (Trevor Ashley) is checking-in to the underwater hotel The Little Lotus. It doesn’t take long for Tania’s bedazzled fins to catch the attention of the handsome Character Formerly Known As Prince (Jakob Ambrose), but beware - lurking in the shadows is the malevolent sea witch, Gaviscon (the legendary Carlotta AM).

For 18 performances only, the full cast of Moulin Scrooge are reunited under the sea in a musical dose of ridiculous - starring Trevor Ashley, Jakob Ambrose, Stephen Madsen, Jarrod Moore and Carlotta AM.
