The Sydney Comedy Festival has unveiled an impressive first release line-up of international and local comedy stars that will take part in the 11th annual festival from 20 April to 17 May 2015.

Leading the international charge will be UK favourites Ross Noble and Stephen K Amos. The king of improvisational comedy, Noble will deliver his brand new show Tangentleman while Amos, the maestro of feel-good comedy, will present his new show, Welcome To My World.

Returning to the Festival by overwhelming popular demand is one of the nation’s most successful comedy exports of the last decade, Jim Jefferies, the loveable Logie Award winning ‘boofhead’ Effie and Egyptian born funnyman, Akmal.

Following a stellar year on the comedy circuit including winning the Sydney Comedy Festival 2014 Best Show award, Ronny Chieng joins the line-up alongside Matt Okine whose third major show Happiness Not Included enjoyed sell-out seasons in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Musical newcomers to the Festival include former Men At Work lead singer Colin Hay, renowned for his hilarious banter between songs with anecdotes about his career; along with New Zealand’s Topp Twins delivering original songs and character comedy.

Rounding out the first release of performers is UK word-of-mouth smash hit, Luisa Omielan, with one of the most successful debut shows to come out of Edinburgh Festival Fringe, What Would Beyonce Do?!

Making a return in 2015 are the Festival’s much loved comedy extravaganzas where international comic royalty and home grown sensations combine in the Sydney Comedy Festival Gala at the Sydney Opera House and the Festival favourite, Cracker Night, taking place across four venues and three huge nights.

Hitting the road during the Festival and beyond will be the Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase, delivering big laughs from Bondi Beach and Penrith to Wagga Wagga and Sutherland.

Director for the Sydney Comedy Festival, Jorge Menidis said, “We are very excited to unveil the first announcement of performers to the people of Sydney. It is an incredible line up of both new and established artists of international acclaim for our eleventh edition of what has become a smashing annual event. Audiences can look forward to much enjoyment and unbridled laughter!”
