The Tap Pack

The Tap Pack is an Aussie troupe, inspired by the legendary The Rat Pack, and their show mixes all the same favourite elements of this group of friends as the talent of vintage mid-century right now in Sydney.

Tap. Songs. Cocktails. Comedy.

Tap is (to my mind) the ultimate form of percussion, and we see The Tap Pack not only offer different forms of tap dancing, including a tap heroes' retrospective (think Donald O'Connor, Gene Kelly, Fred and Ginger...) but also use pool queues, cocktail shakers and other bar implements to count the beat.

Just like their inspirational group, each of The Tap Pack ensemble are different personalities and this show allows each to shine through their own individual story.

Yet, it's when they come together as a troupe in tap dance, or in song, that The Tap Pack are at their well honed best. The oomph of the tap 'line', and the tap 'waves', effortlessly show off their deep dance experience.

The song and dance group (or should that in this case be 'dance and song' ) has been together 10 years (minus that 'c' word interruption of course) and shake up an entertaining show that is peppered with various repertory (jokes - some just a little bit dated for my taste).

Still, with the 'cabaret' club setting of The Studio (Sydney Opera House), their entertainment is perfectly pitched to the audience. Until 30 July.
