A contemporary Opera based on David Malouf's classic novel, Fly Away Peter tells the story of Jim Sadler, a young birdwatcher from Queensland who finds himself on the Western Front in the thick of the First World War. Composer Elliott Gyger, working with librettist Pierce Wilcox and director Imara Savage, brings the opera to the stage at Carriageworks in honour of the Gallipoli centenary.
