Honey Masterclass Sustainability Dinner with Urban Beehive's Doug Purdie

@ Shangri-La Hotel Altitude Restaurant

Editor's Pick
$35 dinner, $9.50 local draft beer

The importance of the honey bee occasionally makes the environmental news. When you think about it, the honey bee is vital to pollination and food production. In Sydney there are more and more examples of urban beehives. The Shangri La Hotel will proudly show off its sustainability achievements, with an alfresco dinner lit by candle light and moonlight on Earth Hour night, with a masterclass using honey from its own urban beehive.

The dusk to late dinner will be held on the outdoor ground-floor terrace of the hotel, and the highlight will be a honey masterclass by the Urban Beehive's own Doug Purdie.

Doug will take diners through a fleet of honeys, including those from the hotel's own beehive, which is housed on a rooftop at the hotel and lovingly maintained by the hotel's Executive Chef, Steve Krasicki.

Buffet of spit roast suckling pig with four honey inspired salads made using local produce, with house-made breads and house-made pickled vegetables. Dining at two communal tables.

This is a wonderful initiative by the hotel to show your support for the environment and Earth Hour.
