Artist and musician Laurie Anderson's poignant documentary/essay film is sure to be one of the most moving and original features of this year's Sydney Film Festival. It's a meditation on love, loss and memory, partially inspired by Anderson's late mother, her departed husband Lou Reed, and her beloved dog Lolabelle. Using home movies, photos and animation, Heart of a Dog is a dreamy, deeply felt, sometimes humorous and elliptical narrative that is both philosophical and extremely personal.
