There are few foods better than pizza to make you feel cozy and warm on a rainy Sunday afternoon, so when I turned up to Happy As Larry at Moore Park’s Entertainment Quarter I was very happy to tuck into Napoli pizza layered with cheese, garlic and various types of mushrooms and finished off with a healthy serving of truffle oil ($15).
Happy As Larry is a food truck like no other. The first thing you will notice is the sheer size of it. The truck is dual-leveled with orders taken down below and all the business happening up top, where your pizza will be cooked in the 2.2 tonne wood-fire oven that has been custom made and shipped straight from Naples.
The beauty of a pizza-centric food truck is that, unlike some other mobile offerings, pizza isn’t awkward. You can fold it up to eat a slice on the run or if you choose to dine al fresco there are makeshift tables and chairs to picnic pizza style with a range of frappes (lychee and mint was a winner), shakes and homemade lemonade to accompany your cheesy meal and even Nutella Calzone if you fancy dessert ($14).
