Kouzina Greco

In the long run, I haven't been much enarmoured with eating in Parramatta, particularly the ubiquitous though innocuous offerings on the Church Street strip.

Luckily I've turned a corner, and discovered the stand out Kouzino Greco in Phillip Street, not only the best place I've found in Parramatta but also the best restaurant service I've had in a long time. It helps when owners are present, on the floor and in the (open) kitchen. Their care as well as professionalism shines through.

That open kitchen also fronts a warmth that compliments the caramel paper-covered tablecloths in the small indoor outdoor seating.

For my first visit, anchovies accompanied my Amaretto Sour, then for the early preshow dinner I chose two hearty traditional Greek starters of cabbage rolls (moist in a veloute), glorious chicken livers with sweet sour onions went with my wine. This food was very tasty and lovingly prepared.

The easy walking distance to Riverside Theatres makes this the best restaurant option for before a performance. I'd suggest skipping the same same Church Street venues for this Greek gem. Kouzina Greco, I will be back for sure when I'm in the Parramatta area. Mains from that hot rock grill are calling me.

Bonus: BYO corkage is listed as only $5 per person.
